Broker's Comments

The Fairey Fisherman, with canoe stern, was based on a ships lifeboat design and the original brochure claimed that she could go anywhere in any weather. This very capable & classic motor sailer was built to a high specification using Fairey's hot moulding techniques. This is where laminated mahogany impregnated with synthetic resins were hot moulded under pressure, providing hulls that were stronger, lighter and more rigid than the glass fibre boats of the day.

With a well protected cockpit and a well proportioned layout down below, this would make a great family weekender capable of cruising comfortably under sail with sloop rig or under Perkins diesel engine power at a steady 7 Kts.

Bright and spacious, she has all you need for easy and enjoyable outings including a decent sized, well equipped galley with dinette, a separate heads compartment and berths for 4. Storage is also ample with integrated draws, cupboards & lockers.

This example has only been lightly used over the last few years so could do with a bit of t.l.c. to return her to her former glory. In particular the plywood around the Sbd side windows needs repair or replacing. We feel this is reflected in the price.

This practical motor sailer is, without doubt, a great all rounder for all weather family fun. It would also make for a good live aboard.
