Boarding is accomplished via transom gate from the swim platform, or through port or starboard bulwarks side entry doors. Movement around the exterior is easy, with wide side decks and well-positioned, sturdy handrails. The heavy construction is noted by the solid feeling of the decks underfoot. The lazarette compartment, below the aft deck, is very large. It houses steering gear, inverter/charger and house bank, Kabola hydronic heater, and other equipment, and also provides good storage space.

The aft trunk cabin provides a mounting location for the AB RIB tender (with aid of an electric deck davit), or the tender can be mounted on the swim step with the aid of a hydraulic Seawise davit.

The flybridge helm is well-equipped with electronics and offers a commanding view with its far-forward location. Two Todd pedestal seats and a L-shaped settee provide seating. The flybridge is protected by a full canvas and Isinglass enclosure, making the flybridge a comfortable and useable space year round.

Entry into the interior is through port or starboard watertight doors -- the port door immediately aft of the galley, and the starboard door at the helm station.

The main deck level includes the galley, the saloon table and the lower helm on one level.

The galley has a Corian countertop, Tundra refrigerator/freezer, Force 10 propane range, and a double-basin stainless steel sink. A microwave is in a cabinet adjacent aft. Overhead cabinets provide plenty of storage. Countertops are rimmed with fiddles which serve as handholds for safety.

The saloon settee is configured in an attractive and comfortable L-shaped configuration that will easily accommodate several shipmates, and with a finely crafted pedestal table.

The lower helm enjoys good forward visibility due to the elevated height of the main deck floor, and is well configured with displays and other navigational equipment and operational controls. Seating is a double bench seat.

Steps down and forward is the guest suite with a V-berth which includes a filler cushion for the center. Storage in cabinets, drawers, a hanging locker, and under the hinged steps is plentiful. Teak joinery and attractively-upholstered cushions make this a very appealing place for guests. There is a head/shower compartment ensuite.

The aft cabin / stateroom is quite large, with a queen pedestal bed, drawers and cabinets galore, and a Splendide washer enclosed within a cabinet. Separate head and shower compartments are roomy -- with head to port, attractively appointed, and shower to starboard. The shower compartment has a standing-height watertight engineroom access door.

Commentaires du Broker

Those looking for a ready, reliable, economical and capable cruiser would do well to consider this Archer 40.

Selene trawlers are built for no-compromise cruising comfort and reliability. The Archer models brought all of the big boat Selene features into a more compact package -- including heavy lay-up, sturdy handrails, bright and spacious engineroom, top-rate equipment, beautiful teak joinery, seaworthy fittings and windows and doors. This 40' model represents an especially attractive value for all of its equipment and craftsmanship and for the inherent toughness that will ensure many future years of pleasurable use.

With her purposeful trawler lines, this boat presents a striking appearance on the water. The interior craftsmanship, joinery, and construction are excellent -- with teak cabinetry and teak and holly decks in very fine condition. Her interior condition exceeds that of a typical vessel of her vintage. The engine room is bright and clean and well outfitted, but still remains accessible and open.

Many features contribute to safe and easy operation -- side entry doors, bulwarks-protected side decks all around, an integral swim platform, well-equipped upper and lower helm stations, a full-size watertight door into the engine room, bow and stern thrusters, sturdy integral swim platform, fuel polishing system, and more.

The vessel has been well updated and cared for and has received considerable maintenance and updates over the years. Substantial updates have been made in the last year, including: new exhaust elbows, new after cooler, heat exchanger and transmission oil cooler service, turbo rebuild, & new belts. The Kabola heater has been serviced, bow and stern thrusters rebuilt, and davit serviced. Other relatively recent updates include the installation of the full flybridge enclosure, house batteries replaced (2024), addition of a water maker, the Seawise davit on the swim step to supper the AB RIB w/ 20hp Tohatsu), and new Garmin navigation electronics at both helms, and a flybridge enclosure.

With 600 gallons of tankage for fuel and a Cummins QSB5.9, this solidly-built, clean, and well-configured Selene Archer 40 Ocean Trawler is well equipped for cruising to Alaska, or beyond.
