Commentaires du Broker
This is a 1977 Neptune 33 sloop, Designed by Alan Buchanan and built by J. Shuttlewood.
Her previous owners have used her for the last 7 years on a regular monthly basis for coastal cruising and family holidays in the Solent and have taken part in the round the island race. Friends and family of all ages have enjoyed sailing in comfort on her as her long keel design enclosed cockpit and beamy design all contribute to a solid sailing position and sea worthiness with ample space within the cockpit and down below.
Cruising speeds under sail in good winds reach 6-8 knots and motoring speeds can match that with her 37hp engine. Significant upkeep is evident as you look around this yacht, since the current owners bought her the engine has had a new starter and new gearbox, as well as a new 3 blade propellor and new batteries and battery maintainer as new as a new mainsail. Internally she has been treated to new upholstery including new foam and soft furnishings, and new marine fridge which works on shore power or batteries and a granite worktop around the galley.
The exterior is practical and has a large enough coach roof and foredeck for a dinghy or life raft or even sunbathing. The cockpit can be completely enclosed and sailed from the shelter if necessary with the winch positions and sail controls easily accessible. The visibility is very good from the helm even when it is enclosed as the window panels are clear and in good condition with instrument and switch panel at your finger tips. To access the foredeck one must walk along the side decks which start quite narrow with plenty of hand holds and high guard rail and this opens up to the more spacious foredeck and halyards situated at the base of the mast. There is plenty of cock pit storage within the lockers and gas locker is located under the helm position.
As you make your way down below through the large accessible companion way you get a feeling of space and comfort with penty of natural light from the large windows and companion way which shows off a very nautical theme with the varnished wooden interior and layout with plenty of head room measured at 6ft. The layout is practical and makes the most of the available space with the galley and nav station positioned either side of the companion way for ease of use and comfort while under way. The saloon offers plenty of space to all sit around the table with a bench seat along one side and the enclosed seating around the dining table. There is ample storage in lockers and draws which all seem to make use of all the under seat and obvious spaces. Accommodation wise this vessel boast 7 berths in 2 cabins, a quarter berth accessed through the nav station (currently used for cockpit cushion storage etc), saloon table drops down to offer a double, the opposite bench seat converts into a bunk bed, and the fore cabin offers another double with removable v cushion for easier access. Moving forward through the interior is the heads with an original Blake heads, sliding hand basin and the plumbing for a shower but this has not been used as a shower. Opposite is a racked out storage area which could be for wet weather gear, clothes storage or even provisions. The folding door works as both a division between the cabins but also as the door to the heads.
All in all my impressions of this yacht is that it has been maintained and used and would suit a variety of users, from young family looking for a solid motor sailor for sailing holidays around the coast, or a weekend getaway option for a couple or group of friends, to a retired couple or similar looking for comfort and accessibility as well as seaworthiness and sailability.
